Dear Friends:
This past week the Liturgy Committee met for the first time this season. I think this is one of the most important Committees in our parish because its focus is only the liturgy - how we pray, how we make prayer more meaningful, etc. Yes, the liturgy and the celebration of the Eucharist is the center of all we do in any parish. Here, at Assumption, I know we make every effort to pray with respect and devotion. I thank the Liturgy Committee for their wonderful input and hard work. At this time, I would like to present just a few reminders for our benefit so that the celebration of the Eucharist continues to be very devotional. Singing is praying. Please sing! Scott Battaglia, our Director of Music, loves when we all sing. He works hard so let us join our voices in song. When the bread and wine are offered on the altar, the priest then says: “Pray that this sacrifice, etc.” First we stand, in silence, then we respond to the invitation by saying, “May the Lord...etc.” We try to avoid speaking and moving at the same time. Also, just before receiving the Body of Christ and the Blood of Christ we are asked to make a profound bow so as to show our reverence for the Eucharist. Many thanks for your cooperation.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Michael A. Carrano
